Plastic Free July – Sandwich Bags

It’s PLASTIC FREE JULY! The idea of this is pretty self-explanatory – for the month of July, myself and countless many others are raising awareness about single use plastic and how you can help tackle this issue by using reusable options. Over the next few days I’ll be sharing a couple of simple suggestions to help you ditch those disposables.

Reusable Sandwich Bags - Plastic Free July 2016

Today’s post is about Sandwich Bags/containers because goodness knows how many single use plastic sandwich bags get used on a daily basis. My guessing is a lot.

Here are a couple of suggestions for reusable options that I personally use and love:

Fluf snack wrap for plastic free lunches

Fluf Snack Pack

Made from 100% organic cotton with a food-safe lining, these funky little packs are pretty versatile. They fasten closed with a velcro tab and easily hold 2 sandwiches, along with other various foods that you’d like wrap up.

I love the fun designs that are printed on the front, which are done using low impact, azo free dye. The lining is BPA, pthalate and lead free, so totally food safe and easy to wipe clean.

We’ve got the velcro sandwich bags from Boobalou too. Very roomy so no squashed sarnies & still going strong after a year!

They’re fab, aren’t they? I love the fact that the Fluf pack has even put a little dashed line on the back for you to write your/your kids name. Jacob has the ‘Say Cheese’ one with his name on.

I’m super excited about these posts. I’m planning to use these kind of bags when my kids go to school.

We have heaps of tupperware from the parents on both sides so we just use that for everything, but we also keep other containers and receptacles for giving to others where we don’t require it back. The most annoying times are when the school is going on a trip and request “disposable lunch” because they have to throw everything away!!! Drives me mad. We collect happy meal type boxes for this purpose and reuse gift wrap or similar to wrap things in. Still hate doing it though.

We have some fab sandwich wraps from dimplemuff…. they open out into a mat/plate. We took ours on a school trip I was helping on and most of the kids had the throwaway sandwich bags and once ripped open they were useless the kids were putting their sandwiches down on the outdoor bench…. i was so glad we had out mat. Arthur has had sandwiches every day for a year with his and its still going strong.
