Earth Conscious Vegan Deodorant Review

With more people wanting to lead a healthier lifestyle, it’s no surprise to see them re-evaluating the products they use in everyday life. For most people, deodorant is something that is applied everyday and a staple item. So many deodorants in shops are in plastic packaging, which isn’t great for the environment. Whilst some can be recycled, there are some that can’t. And recycling is NOT the solution to our huge waste problem. Refusing to use items, and opting for plastic-free versions is a better option.

Earth Conscious Natural Deodorant is made from simple natural ingredients, ideal for eco conscious people

This is where Earth Conscious comes in – they make deodorant using natural butters and their packaging is plastic-free. Huzzah! Last year I reviewed them before I became vegan. I really loved the product, but I was quite sad at the prospect of having to find a new deodorant after I became vegan. Not long after I expressed my concern to Earth Conscious, they told me to hang tight as they had something in the works. Yes, you guessed it – they launched a vegan version of their awesome natural deodorant!

Earth Conscious Vegan Deodorant Review

The vegan version of their deodorant only currently comes in two scents: lavender and citrus. Not a big scent range, so I hope in the new year that they add more scents.

Ingredients: Certified organic coconut oil, certified organic arrowroot powder, certified organic shea butter, sodium bicarbonate, jojoba wax (plus the essential oils for the different scents)

The vegan version feels a lot smoother than the deodorant that I received when I wrote my review last year. Shortly after that review, they changed the formula and sent me a new tin which was a lot less gritty. But there’s just something about the vegan version that feels really silky.

Performance

Despite the fact the formulation is different, the Earth Conscious Vegan Deodorant performs just as well as their non-vegan versions. It melts into my skin nicely and keeps me stink free for easily 48hrs. If I was working out, I would imagine it’d likely only be good for a day. But either way, it is a natural deodorant that WORKS. It’s really no surprise to hear that they’re an award-winning brand.

As I mentioned in my first review, this is a deodorant, not an anti-perspirant. So you will still sweat. But you won’t stink.

Eco friendly natural deodorant for zero waste living

Final Thoughts

Earth Conscious supports the Marine Conservation Society by donating 10p from every tin sold. I think this is just fantastic, and really shows how much they care about supporting organizations dedicated to helping our planet.

The deodorants are priced at £5 for a 60g tin and since you don’t need a lot, I have found one tin lasts a year. I’ve saved money, but also no longer have plastic waste to worry about. The tins are aluminium which I reuse for other things.

I really love the vegan version of their deodorant and am happy with how it works. I would like to see a full scent range in the new year. It would also be nice to see them drop their non-vegan deodorants, and become a 100% vegan brand. But that’s just my personal thoughts.

If you’re looking to try a natural deodorant, I highly recommend you try Earth Conscious!

Have you tried Earth Conscious deodorants? Would you switch and give them a try?

A new product to me, but intrigued and interested. I do like cosmetics that have more thoughtful ingredients and packaging. Certainly something to consider.

One tin lasts a year? Wow I must be using too much! SAying that I absolutely love this product. It’s the first natural deodorant that I found actually works and will not be using anything else now. I didn’t realise there was a vegan one so will try that next

Yeah I don’t use a lot – I would maybe estimate a max of 2 per year. Maybe try using less?

Great post! Is there such a thing as a natural/vegan anti-perspirant? As an anxiety sufferer I sweat a lot and it’s something that I get a bit self conscious about, especially at work/in meetings etc.

I would maybe give it a go for days when I’m just chilling around the house etc though. 🙂

Just wanted to say that although the deodorant is not designed to stop you perspiring and we wouldn’t want to because it is an essential natural bodily process many of our customers do report sweating less than with conventional products. From research and reading, we think that it may be that once you have detoxified from mainstream antiperspirants that your body re-balances and you may find yourself sweating and smelling less anyway.

This actually sounds brilliant – love that there’s no nasty plastic, and that it’s completely natural. And it lasts for so long! Good value, isn’t it? x

This sounds so interesting! I’ve been thinking of trying the LUSH powdered ones, but this one sounds really good, too. Will have to try it.

Thank you Tamsin for your continued support. We genuinely appreciate it.

Following up on the Vegan situation. Thought we’d take the opportunity to explain a bit more. You see, we deliberate on the Vegan vs Beeswax all of the time and it forms a big part of product development. The thing is this – whilst the vegan wax version is as effective as the beeswax version the beeswax is a better product in terms of its stability at warmer temperatures.

The vegan wax is more prone to melting in warmer temperatures than the beeswax is. We have tested many natural deodorant creams that are vegan and have found that they lose consistency and volume very quickly getting quite oily in just a few minutes of sunlight or warmth. This is why refrigeration is often recommended. The Earth Conscious Vegan Deodorant holds up much better but we still know that beeswax holds up further still and for travelling or keeping the product in your gym bag, this is obviously important.

At this stage we have to conclude that whilst using beeswax is not something all Vegans will use it is still acceptable to many others.

We hope that by having a vegan friendly range and remaining true to our other ethics, we are doing the best we can do at the moment.

Anyway, thanks again for your continued support and for all the other great work you do. We wish you a very happy peaceful Christmas and we look forward to working with you in the New Year.

    With Love and Best Wishes

    Angela & Elly

I tried this after seeing it on your Facebook page. I was skeptical as I have yet to find a deodorant that lasts all day without leaving me with a slight whiff :o(
However, I was hugely surprised the first day (I forgot I had put it on!) and I have used every day since (3 weeks) and it has not let me down yet! I’m so pleased I’ve found it. As I’ve grown up, I have become more and more conscious of the environment and our waste and also about being kinder to my body. I recommend this product to everyone!
