TOTM Organic Cotton Sanitary Pads Review

As some of you know, I’ve been on the look out for eco and organic cotton menstrual product brands to review, and recently came across TOTM. I know that reusable menstrual products aren’t for everyone. So I feel it’s important to try and review eco/organic disposables that are as kind to our bodies and the planet as possible. Especially since roundup weedkiller was found in tampons and pads. Scary, right?

TOTM make organic cotton tampons and pads and offer a personalized subscription service or one-off purchasing. They very kindly sent both tampons and pads, but I am only reviewing the pads (despite trying, I still cannot use tampons since having my son).

TOTM Organic Cotton Sanitary Pads Review

TOTM organic cotton pads are made from non-GM, certified organic cotton and are free from chemical fertilisers, pesticides, chlorine bleach, perfumes and dioxins.

I was sent through both pad sizes available – the day and night absorbencies. Typically, no sooner had they arrived and my period went missing. It’s funny how I spent most of my early teens wishing my period would stop, yet now I can’t wait for it to arrive. Anyway, I digress.. back to the review.

Day Absorbency: The TOTM day pad is 9″ long and 2.75″ wide across the center of the pad. I found it to be extremely comfortable and very thin. The adhesive on the wings and back of the pad held everything in place without any budging. Due to the length of the day pad, I could only wear it on my regular flow days. During those days I experienced zero leaking and felt dry whilst wearing the pad.

Night Absorbency:  The TOTM night pad is 10″ long and 3″ wide across the center of the pad. Like the day pad, I found it to be very comfortable, trim and it stayed in place for the duration of it being worn. No shifting around here! Although this pad is labeled as TOTM’s night pad, I actually used this during the day for heavy flow, and then at night time for regular flow. I was really impressed with how much it held, whilst still keeping me dry! Sometimes I half expect organic cotton pads to not hold much, but gosh how wrong I was.

I personally found the night pad too short for use at night during heavy days, but I know many people who find this length sufficient for them at night.

Final Thoughts

I really like TOTM organic cotton pads. I was comfortable whilst using the pads, and they did not shift around nor leak.

My only criticism is that I wish they’d make a longer pad around 12″ for night time use. I also hope that they change their wording to being inclusive by dropping the term ‘feminine hygiene’ and using gender-neutral language.

I really love that TOTM support the Gynaecological Cancer Fund and that they’re working to help smash taboos! It’s always wonderful to see brands giving back in a positive way. All in all, I’m very happy with my experience using TOTM, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them if you’re looking for an organic cotton menstrual product brand. They offer 1 off purchases and also a subscription where you can set your account to how often they post pads (or tampons!) to you. Best of all, the packaging fits through a letter box!

OMG weed killer that’s shocking I wasn’t aware of that. I should look into these as they sound like a better alternative.

I can’t use tampons since having a baby either. I’m pleased you found them overall to be good. Jo x

I use tampons so I am glad that they offer eco alternatives, especially as I did not know that weedkiller was found in ordanairy pads and tampons!

It was discovered back in 2015, that the non-organic cotton used had been contaminated. Scary, right?!

This is something I should really think about trying rather than buying my usual brand x

I never knew there were organic sanitary towels out there. I will certainly be keeping a look out, but as you said the only real disappointment is that they do not have it in a longer size for night time wear.
