The Berry Berry Bags – Ethical Fashion

The Greta Handbag made from reclaimed materials for those who are eco conscious but love fashion

The Berry Berry is a UK based ethical fashion brand, created by a wonderful lady called Lucia. She believes that fashion should be sustainable and ethical, but still look good. The Berry Berry was born out of a love for fashion and the planet.

Tackling Textile Waste

Did you know that there is an issue with textile waste? Just take a look at these statistics per year:

  • UK produces 1.3 million tons
  • EU produces 4.3 million tons
  • USA produces 11 million tons
  • China produces 20 million tons

This is a huge problem and this waste ends up polluting landfills. Fast fashion is a real issue, and one of the top polluters in the world.

Thankfully, The Berry Berry use their brand to reclaim used textiles and textile offcuts, and turn them into gorgeous, high-quality handbags. With every 2 handbags made, they save 1kg of fabric going to landfill. That’s pretty awesome, right?!

The Berry Berry Are An Ethical & Eco Brand

The Berry Berry is an ethical brand and they pay their designers a fair wage. There are way too many brands out there who exploit their workers, often forcing them into unpaid overtime.

The materials that The Berry Berry reclaim are used to their absolute maximum potential, whilst trying to leave the least amount of waste. Their ultimate goal is to become a zero waste brand, which I think is fantastic.

Why I Love The Berry Berry

In a world where fast fashion is polluting our planet, it’s great to see a brand challenging that. For many, it’s about making profit and selling without considering quality, workers or the planet. The Berry Berry Are different. They care about producing great quality items whilst paying workers a fair wage and thinking about the materials used.

The Berry Berry handbags are uniquely handcrafted from 100% recycled materials by using reclaimed clothing, upholstery fabric offcuts, and magazines. Once these textiles have been collected, they are then washed using natural cleaners, straightened, cut and folded before being sewn by the designers. You can tell that they take a great deal of pride in creating the handbags, as the quality is absolutely fantastic.

I really love that the bags come with a matching accessory case, which I use for carrying my menstrual cup and a few makeup items. The internal zipped pocket is really handy, too. It’s nice to not have to fumble around for my keys.

Each handbag is totally unique. Which I think is a pretty nice touch. There’s something really special about owning a totally unique product, knowing that you’re the only person that has it.

Launching On Kickstarter

The Berry Berry is launching on Kickstarter very soon! Super exciting, right? If you’d like to snag a bag for yourself or someone else, then sign up to The Berry Berry newsletter so that you get notified of the Kickstarter launch when it goes live.

The Berry Berry sounds like a great brand! I love that the bags are all unique

  10. 28th May 2017 / 12:10 pm

This is such a good idea. A lot of the stuff that we throw away is perfectly ok to be used again for a different purpose. If there was somewhere locally to donate scrap fabric to be reused I would definitely do that for clothes that are too scabby to go to the charity shop to be resold.

Also this is a great review. Really informative!

I try to shop more ethicaly, so this bag would be a good start point. My last purchase to try an ethical company was not what I expacted design wise.
