Weleda is one of my all time favourite natural skincare brands, whom I discovered about 6/7 years ago. Back then I was still very new to the natural skincare and eco living thing. In fact, one of the reasons I got into natural skincare is because I’d been searching for a remedy to soothe my dry and angry skin. And funnily enough, the product I’m reviewing today was my first jump into Weleda’s products – their highly praised Skin Food.
Weleda Skin Food
I was lucky enough to be invited to the blogger event at Weleda’s UK headquarters last year. We got a tour of their biodynamic gardens and learned a lot about their history. One of the things we learned is that even though Skin Food has become a worldwide success, the recipe hasn’t changed despite being around for over 90 years! Now if that isn’t a spoiler for how this review turns out, I don’t know what is.
Inside Skin Food are some amazing natural ingredients like:
- Organic Rosemary Leaf Extract
- Organic Pansy Extract
- Organic Calendula
- Organic Chamomile Extract
Together these ingredients are soothing, healing and perfect for delicate skin.
Weleda Skin Food Review
As I mentioned earlier, Skin Food was my first ever Weleda Product. And it did not disappoint. Initially I got it for my dry skin and eczema on my hands. I’ve had some funny reactions to skincare in the past and so I wanted something natural. Something that actually worked without a huge price tag.
The cream itself is quite thick and so, a little goes a long way. It’s also very rich so as before, you don’t need much of it.
Skin Food is, in my opinion, a multi purpose cream. Not only does it deal with my dry skin but also can be used for all sorts such as:
- Face Mask
- Makeup Primer
- Lip Balm
- Split End Cream
- Cuticle Cream
- Baby Bottom Cream
And the list just goes on. It is pretty thick and can take a while to sink in, depending how much is applied. I find it’s very easy to go from needing just enough to there being too much. But in any case, I use the extra for something else.
I really enjoy using Skinfood as a face mask, a primer (works amazing with Weleda’s new Beauty Balm!), cuticle cream and on any eczema flare ups.
The fact I’ve been buying this product for the past 6+ years should tell you something. I am a huge fan of the Weleda Skin Food. It works really well for many different things and it’s affordable.
